About our School

At J.C. Lynch Elementary School we are committed to helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by growing the future one mind at a time.  Our hive has been buzzing with activity this year.

Our students continued their involvement in various school and district wide events and projects.  Our students participated in the FSD3 Arbor Day & National History Day programs.    We also had students receive awards during the annual Art Fields Celebration.  Students again had the opportunity to perform in our school wide musical performance.  This year, two fifth graders and one 4th grader performed with the State Elementary Honors Choir.

Our quarterly honors & awards celebrations continued.  Each quarter we recognized students for their academic successes, character word of the month students, and MAP and PASS test achievements.  In addition, our school continued its partnership with the Town of Coward to provide Perfect Attendance Pizza Parties at the end of each semester.

While celebrating the successes of our students, we would also like to recognize the hard work of our faculty; due to their efforts our school was recognized by the State as a Palmetto Gold and Siler School.  Two of our teachers had Donor’s Choose grants funded.  Due to the efforts of our faculty, JCL had the highest percentage of FSD3 students scoring Met and Above on the 2016 PASS Science test.  In addition, JCL also had the highest percentage of FSD3 students scoring Meets and Exceeds on the 2016 SC Ready Reading and Math tests.

In 2016, JC Lynch was the recipient of a School Improvement Grant in the amount of $564,108.00.  This grant has enabled our school to update our wireless infrastructure system, purchase 1 to 1 iPads for students and faculty.  These devices and system updates have enhanced our students’ digital learning experiences, and enable classroom lessons and experiences beyond the traditional classroom experience.  The grant also provided multiple field trip experiences for all of our students.  These field trip experiences have enabled our students to explore and experience authentic learning in action.  In addition, JCL has continued its utilization of Project Lead the Way Science.  Our school implemented two modules per grade level this past year.  These modules provide our students with the opportunity to enhance their problem solving skills by employing the engineering process of designing, testing, and then re-designing based on the results.

Based on the growth that we have seen this year, we are truly “Growing the Future, One Mind at a Time!”
